Chuck Egerton presented on his thesis study at the Peace and Conflict Studies in Anthropology 2019 Conference at Queens University in Belfast Northern Ireland on October 5, 2019. The conference was titled: Creativity, Resistance and Hope: Towards and Anthropology of Peace.
Egerton’s presentation was titled Being and Becoming: A Photographic Inquiry with Bahá’í Men into Cultures of Peace. He was given an hour presentation which included an interactive portion where the audience used their cell phone cameras to practice his new PhotoSophia method. They broke into pairs to take each other’s picture and answered in-depth identity questions while looking at their own portrait.
The conference was sponsored by the PACSA Association and included the presentation of over 50 papers. Most scholars were from across Europe and the world with only a handful of presenters from the United States.
An intriguing event on the last day of the conference was a walking/bus tour of “The Troubles” in Belfast, visiting Catholic and Protestant murals and sites of violent conflict over the past three decades.
Chuck’s study exhibit just completed a three month showing at Guilford College and is planned to be installed next at the Greensboro Project Space.
