The Peace and Conflict Studies Department welcomes Danielle Salvatore who joins as the new Administrative Support Specialist.
Danielle graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and International & Global Studies with a concentration in Human Rights. Additionally, she completed a minor in Peace and Conflict Studies, giving her an understanding of the subject matter of the department.
When asked about her time at UNCG, she said
I felt at home in all of my Peace and Conflict Studies Courses, which helped to provide a foundation for the work I would continue to pursue.
After graduation, Danielle moved to Australia to continue her passion for International travel and International Education.
Upon returning to the United States, Danielle worked in the field of International Education, endeavoring to provide international experience-based learning opportunities to students across the Southeast.
Danielle presented at over 40 universities in the Southeast, helping to develop Education Abroad programs to universities of all sizes.
Additionally, she conducted training seminars for faculty members planning to host academically relevant faculty-led Study Abroad Programs. During this time, Danielle developed a passion for working with diverse students and assisting marginalized students to access Study Abroad programs.
When asked why Danielle chose to work for the Peace and Conflict Studies Department at UNCG she said,
“I chose this position because it felt like coming home. I graduated with a minor in Peace & Conflict Studies from UNCG in 2016 and have always felt a strong sense of belonging in the program.
Joining the department as the Administrative Support Specialist allows me to assist both faculty and students who share that same sense of belonging.
I’m excited to help students pursue their academic goals in the department and assist faculty in their academic work in the field.”
